High Definition Dance is very proud to offer competitive dance for our more serious dancers. They work hard in class and perform hard on stage! Dancers are required to attend certain classes throughout the week to maintain and build technique. HDD attends 3-4 competitions per season and participates in community events during the year. Auditions are required to be on any of the competition teams. Auditions are held at the end of May. Video auditions are also accepted. All dancers must complete boot camps and at least one week of an HDD summer intensive. For more information on our current teams, please check out the ADB & HDDC tab on our site menu.
Our Petite Dance Company challenges our 6-11 year old dancers to work hard in dance class on technique and perform at a higher level than most recreational dancers. 2017 was the first time we included the Petite Dance Company and they were a success! Our petite duets took 3rd place and 5th place overall and their group routine received a Studio Judges Award! Dancers must audition to be on the Petite Dance Team. Dancers are required to attend a minimum of one week of summer dance if they are accepted onto the team. They also must take a minimum of 4 dance classes per week, including 2 ballet classes, and company rehearsal. These dancers have grown so much over the year and have developed friendships and made memories that will last a lifetime.
Our Junior Rep Competition Company is designed to push our more serious 9-13 year old dancers. These dancers have competed and won at the high gold and platinum levels this year, placing in overall high scores and winning scholarships and invitiationals. Dancers must audition for this company. If accepted they must attend at least one summer dance week. They must dance at least 8 hours per week, including 2 ballet classes, Acro/Leaps and Turns, and company rehearsal.
The HDD Senior Rep Company is designed for dancers ages 12-18 who are serious about their dancing careers. We work to help them connect with top choreographers and teachers in the dance industry through competitions and public events. Many of the dancers who have compete with us at this level have been accepted in to excellent dance intensive programs and colleges. Dancers must audition for Senior Company and must dance at least 8 hours per week. Minimum of 2 ballet classes are required, as well as leaps and turns or acro. We can specify the focus of each dancer and create the schedule that will best help them achieve their goals!
ELITE HIP-HOP COMPANY
Elite Hip-Hop company is a new competition dance team that will be starting in the fall of 2017. This team is by INVITATION ONLY! There are no age limits to this team, only based on ability! This hip-hop team will rehearse every Thursday evening as well as one weekend day per month, working with different choreographers and being pushed harder in Hip-Hop. Dancers must attend at least one summer dance week, as well as 5 hours of dance per week, including 1 ballet, 1 hip-hop and rehearsal. Mr. Tislarm Bouie will be the main choreographer for this team.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS TEAM HAS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. ANY VIOLATION OF THE CONTRACT WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION FROM THIS TEAM.
HDD Hip-Hop Company is for dancers ages 7-18 who love performing Hip-Hop and want to compete! Dancers must audition for this team. Dancers must take at least 3 dance classes per week, including one ballet, one hip-hop and rehearsal. Dancers must also attend at least one week of Summer Dance. The HDD Hip-Hop team has a great history of winning studio awards, judges special awards, and 1st place overall awards! This team will be run by Mr. Madison Ingles.
MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY
New to the HDD Competition Team line-up for 2017 is Musical Theatre company being lead by Ms. Lindsay Higgins. Dancers will be required to take Voice, Ballet and a Musical Theatre or Jazz class along with rehearsal. Dancers are required to audition for this team and are required to attend one week minimum of summer dance.
