High Definition Dance is very proud to offer competitive dance for our more serious dancers. They work hard in class and perform hard on stage! Dancers are required to attend certain classes throughout the week to maintain and build technique. HDD attends 3-4 competitions per season and participates in community events during the year. Auditions are required to be on any of the competition teams. Auditions are held at the end of May. Video auditions are also accepted. All dancers must complete boot camps and at least one week of an HDD summer intensive. For more information on our current teams, please check out the ADB & HDDC tab on our site menu.
Diamond & Ruby Repertory Competition Teams
High Definition Dance has two Repertory Teams that compete throughout the year. Dancers can be placed the Ruby team as young as age 6, and the Diamond Team by age 10. Rep team must attend 2 or more ballet classes per week, an Acro/Leaps and Turns, Rep Rehearsal and a class of choice. Dancers compete in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary and acro. Dancers who are accepted onto the Diamond team are dancers who have achieved Platinum level scores at competition and who are achieving technical excellence. Ruby dancers are not required to have attained Platinum level scores. They too however should be striving to increase their technique with the goal of moving up to the Diamond Team in mind. All dancers on our competition team are role models within the HDD family. They are held accountable for setting a good example to younger dancers and to dancers who spend less time at HDD. We expect that our company dancers remain humble, always willing to help out a peer and to make everyone feel welcome.
Sapphire and Emerald Hip-Hop Teams:
High Definition Dance also has a competitive Hip-Hop team. Dancers who are on this team are required to take the Hip-hop rehearsal class, hip-hop class, and ballet.
