HDD Dancers WIN Highest Scoring Routines at 2 Competitions!

The High Definition Dance Competition Team has just wrapped up the competitive season with some HUGE accomplishments!  This year the team attended NRG Dance Project, Spirit of Dance Awards, and Backstage Performing Arts Competition.  At NRG, the dancers got to train with Lacey Schwimmer as well as other well known dancers in the industry.  At the scholarship auditions, Jayla Bediako was chosen to win a single city scholarship and Isabella Cruz won the second highest scholarship for an entire year.  Isabella however had higher goals, she used her scholarship to attend the convention with NRG in Washington DC and won the top scholarship being named an NRG Prodigy!

At Spirit Of Dance Awards, Isabella Cruz and Ella Grogan were invited to perform on the SDA Nationals Dance Team.  In the solo competition, our dancers scored at the gold, high gold and ultimate levels.  In the Competitive Overall high Scores Ella Grogan placed 3rd and Isabella Cruz Placed 1st.  In the duo/trio competition, all three of HDD’s entries received Judges awards.  In the high score overalls, “Hot Honey Rag” Choregoraphed by Amanda Allyne and performed by Isabella Cruz and Ella Grogan won 1st place.  In the group routines, “Perfect”Choreoraphed by Annalee Traylor placed in the overalls, as did “The Greatest Show”( by Amanda Allyne, Lindsay Higgins, Annalee Traylor), “Hidden” ( by Annalee Traylor), and “Blue Check” (by Nekira Grant).  For the weekend, SDA gives an HIGH SCORE award to the top 3 highest scoring routines out of all the 12 and under solos, duos and trios.  HDD won 1st place for Isabella Cruz’s solo and 2nd place for “Hot Honey Rag”.

Wrapping it up at Backstage Performing Arts Competition, all the dancers continued to perform wonderfully! “Scrub Me Mama” choreographed by Lindsay Higgins won its first Platinum! In the 10 and under solo competition, the HDD soloists took Platinum as well as a special judges award.  Emmaline Carota placed 10th in the overall high scores and Bryanna Lopez placed 7th! Moving along to the group routines, many routines finally took that Platinum score they have been working so hard to earn.  In the 11-14 solo competition, all of our dancers scored high gold and platinums.  Isabella Cruz, Ella Grogan and Ava McCoy, as well as Alyssa Guardino in the senior solos, were invited to perform on the Nationals Dance Team.  In the Duo/Trio competition, “Choo Choo” by Lindsay Higgins placed 10th in the overalls, and “Hot Honey Rag” placed 1st, scoring a High Platinum at an almost perfect score! To top off the weekend, “Hot Honey Rag” also was the HIGHEST SCORING routine out of all the duos/solos/trios for the entire competition and took the 9th place HIGHEST SCORE out of the 483 routines that had been entered.

We are so very proud of ALL the HDD dancers, be sure to see us perform at the NYC Dance Parade on May 18th, Newburgh Illuminated on June 2 and at our dance recital on June 22!
